Boy did this guy grow. He started out life at 12 1/2 pounds and never looked back, with all the grace of a mastiff puppy - all feet and legs as a kid. But even with the gangly look, I could see his mom's style stamped onto this buck. The long, lean neck flowing onto an incredibly level back and rump (yes, he's purebred Nubian!), over a rear leg set that shows lots of room for an udder...darn, I wish he was a doe. He's dairy, yet shows lots of strength and masculinity.
He also has an easy-going, easy to handle disposition - I have taken him for off leash walks just like the girls, and he follows like a puppy, and passes his winsome personality on to his kids. He is one of a very few kids I've had who never got coccidia, since he learned solid food like he was born knowing. All I had to do to teach him, was stuff the item in his mouth, and the lightbulb came on.
The first daughter fresh (a Guernsey cross) has all the shape and attachments I was hoping for from her genetics - high and tight. The second doe fresh (PB Nubian) continued the trend with correct amount of medial, good arch and tight attachments all around. The kids also universally showed exceptional set to the rear legs, lots of dairy character, strong toplines and fast growth combined with big appetites. The personalities were also superb, being well-loved at a local camp's petting zoo, and one doeling was a 4-H'er's dream showmanship goat after minimal training. I currently have three daughters (one milking) in the herd.
