Naydi apparently likes to be consistent... So she again gave me two bucks and a doe, in the same order and the same dystocias as her first kidding - in the same order (both of her doelings arrived no problemo)...the doeling is a dead ringer for Naydi's 2013 doe...and both Naydi daughters are kid #6 for the year! She excels the entire kid crop in rump width and flatness from thurl to thurl. I am really looking forward to her udder. If her escutcheon is not teasing me and she's anything like 3/4 sister Chante', it's going to be amazing.
Due to space limitations, I have put my dry does and kids out on a friend's pasture (with supplemental alfalfa feeding), and Nakwa is leading the pack in body condition. The other doelings have maintained growth and condition, but Nakwa has not only grown well, but also gained condition while on pasture. The Naydi line is proving to have some surprising qualities, some of which can't be measured by Linear Appraisal or DHIR... I might just have to try some strategic inbreeding in this little family and see what pops out. Starting with a breeding to Nakwa's Snubian nephew Fermiere. Yes, that will give me Experimentals...but with the depth of pedigree, and the animals I'm inbreeding on (Copper-Hill Breakaway's Sonset, and Naydi in particular), this might just be worth it.
