Nubian Does
The majority of the herd is from a single matriarch, although I have since added one Nubian doe and of course the Guernseys and Sables are from different lines. The original line are very dairy, slow maturing animals, reaching their peak at age four or five, and look leggy and weedy until then. I have also noticed a trend for them to have triplets from age two until they are aged does.
I'm looking for a dairy-style, correct, and productive doe. I drink goats milk, so I expect 2000 lbs+ of mild-flavored milk from my Nubians, with a milk peak 10lbs+. Flavor has been easy to maintain...will to milk through the fall and winter has proven more of a challenge. I also prefer longer teats than the show preference, as I handmilk.
